Even though our climate on the mountain here in the
Great NorthWest of the U.S.A. is very mild, I have
always been concerned about the temperature in the coop.
Experts say there is no need to be concerned because
chickens can withstand cold well. Still I wanted to
add temperature sensing and recording over time.
I have two sensors, the DHT22 which
I bought because of price and the Texas Instrument
HDC1000EVM which I did a road test of for Element14
(known in the USA as Newark).
The TI module test was to watch for any broody hens
The information from the sensors is recorded in a MySQL
table automatically every 5 minutes by a cron job.
